Blue Springs Brewing Co. announced the return of their Mardi Gras inspired "King Cake Cream Ale". Blue Springs head brewer Tim Nolan, and members of our Brewed Local team came up with the idea for this beer a few years ago in support of local Mardi Gras celebrations taking place in Historic Downtown Sanford Florida. King Cake is a 5% ABV Cream Ale, artfully brewed with cinnamon, pecans, brown sugar and vanilla.

The history of King Cake...
Modeled after New Orleans favorite dessert, the King Cake history traces back to ancient European festivals, evolving through French and Spanish traditions. King cake is a festive, crown-shaped cake, often a braided brioche, eaten during the Carnival season (from Epiphany through Mardi Gras) and decorated with purple, green, and gold sugars, symbolizing justice, faith, and power. A small plastic baby is hidden inside, and whoever finds it is crowned "king" or "queen" for the day and is responsible for hosting the next party or buying the next cake
King Cake Cream Ale is a "draft only" release, and is scheduled to arrive the early part of February, just in time for "Fat Tuesday".
